JTM Construction, the general contractor for Seattle’s Fifth + Columbia project, has selected KONE to provide 19 gearless traction elevators at the 44-story office building scheduled to open in 2017. The project developer and owners are Daniels Real Estate & Stockbridge Capital Group.
KONE will install six MonoSpace Machine Room-Less (MRL) elevators and 13 MiniSpace elevators, traveling at speeds of up to 1,200 feet per minute. The office elevator groups will also utilize destination control systems, including state-of-the-art touchscreen destination operating panels.
The new building will be located in the heart of the Seattle central business district at 801 Fifth Avenue. In addition to more than 500,000 square feet of office space, a 184 room four-star hotel and spa will be located in the new tower. The new building’s innovative geometric form and natural light glass facade were designed by Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects of Seattle. The hotel and restaurant spaces will be designed by world renowned designer Philippe Starck. Fine dining will be available at “The Bazaar” by internationally acclaimed Chef Jose Andres.
Additionally, KONE’s Machine Room-Less (MRL) solutions are helping to return leasable space to the project owners by eliminating planned overhead machine rooms that were typically required with conventional traction elevator models.
“We are excited to be a partner on the most significant office and hotel project in the Seattle skyline,” stated Larry Wash, CEO of KONE Americas, in a statement. “Our local project management team will provide the most productive installation and highest degree of customer service for the Fifth + Columbia property. We look forward to a successful and safe installation.”
