The San Francisco office of leading global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will has added to its experienced team of sustainability experts with newly hired Design Principal Jeffrey Till , AIA, LEED AP. Till brings more than twenty-five years of design and master planning experience for a range of clients and projects in the United States, Asia, and the Middle East.
The significant expertise in sustainability and research-supported design Till has gained during his career, along with his collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to the challenges posed by complex projects, makes him well-suited for his new role of Design Principal in the San Francisco office. He will help expand Perkins+Will’s presence and design leadership in the Bay Area and beyond, further reinforcing the sustainability know-how of the office brought by the appointment of Peter Busby , C.M., AIA, FRAIC, LEED AP, as Managing Director last year.
“Perkins+Will welcomes another accomplished sustainable design leader to our San Francisco office,” said Busby. ” Jeffrey Till shares our passion for research-based sustainable design and will help us in our quest to secure and realize ever more high-performance, net-zero energy projects.”
Till’s roots in sustainable design run deep. For the past three years, he served as Design Director, Global Leader in Sustainability for Woods Bagot. During that time, he led the design team on projects including the MASDAR Headquarters in Abu Dhabi; the Dalian Harbour Eco District Master Plan in Dalian, China; and the Zero Emissions Design Pilot Project in Chongqing, China. Prior to that, Till used his real-world experience to inspire the next generation of designers as a lecturer on sustainable architecture at Stanford University. He has also served as a Director at William McDonough+Partners.
Till’s experience includes large-scale, high-rise, and mixed-use urban developments for a variety of practice areas including higher education, workplace, hospitality, and multi-family residential projects. He excels at finding innovative solutions to complex issues, using research-informed design with a focus on advanced technology. In addition, he aims to create progressive, eco-effective architecture and master planning through a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach.
“It’s inspiring to be part of an organization with a firmwide commitment to offering next-generation sustainable design. Bringing my experience and leadership to such a talented team will allow us to deliver great solutions to Perkins+Will’s clients and their communities.” said Till.
In addition to his time as a lecturer at Stanford, Till has long been in demand as a sustainability expert. He was one of only a handful of speakers chosen for the Special Sets program at Greenbuild in 2012, where he discussed the changes necessary to shift the design process to stop and reverse ecological impacts. In addition, he has written extensively for publications such as World Architecture News and Bloomberg Businessweek. Till holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from The University of Colorado at Boulder, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
