The Green Parking Council (GPC) recently announced that it has awarded the 2013 Pioneer Award for Sustainability to Mark Muglich, President of ABM Parking Services (formerly Ampco System Parking).
“We applaud and recognize Mark for his commitment to GPC as a founding partner as we strive to transform the face of the parking industry,” explained the GPC’s Executive Director, Paul Wessel. “Mark’s accomplishments serve as a role model for deploying sustainable initiatives and sound corporate citizenship within the parking industry.”
The GPC 2013 Pioneer Award for Sustainability honors leaders of the parking industry’s transition to an environmentally-conscious business model.
GPC Sustainability Pioneers are distinguished by a commitment to sustainability that transcends the walls of their organization and contributes to industry-wide transformation. These “agents of change” in the pursuit of parking, planet and profit are leveraging innovative business practices, accelerating the adoption of high-performance technologies and embracing open-source collaboration.
“I’d like to thank the Green Parking Council for this tremendous recognition,” said Muglich. “Serving as a responsible corporate citizen is a key component of ABM’s core philosophy as an organization, and we’re proud to do our part to ensure a sustainable future for ABM’s stakeholders and the community at large.”
Mark Muglich and other Sustainability Pioneers have contributed to the successful development and launch of Green Garage Certification, the world’s first sustainability rating system specifically designed for parking structures.
ABM Parking Services recently introduced technological upgrades to enhance the ABM parking experience with an eye on sustainability, including a customized mobile app for smartphones and tablets, along with a new client website for ease of service across all 2,000 ABM-operated parking locations in the United States. Additionally, ABM has taken a leadership position in Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station installation and maintenance for parking facilities across the country, and the Company continues to perform lighting and controls retrofits in parking structures that dramatically reduce energy consumption, improve lighting quality and safety, and reduce maintenance costs.
ABM’s commitment to sustainability is reflected across its numerous service lines at thousands of client locations as well as inside the Company. ABM’s GreenCare program has surpassed 360 million square feet of building space serviced, and the Company recently issued its third Corporate Sustainability Report, detailing information on its sustainability practices based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the world’s most widely used framework for sustainability reporting.
